Day 23/366

It was a solid day on the Mac today. I managed to rip and back up a crapload of photos, do some website stuff for a client, start getting my website sorted, have a lovely hot bath and a feed.

Then I took off to shoot three shows. First up, Mia Dyson for Shadow Electric at Estonian House, part of the Brunswick Music Festival. The venue was packed.

The thing with having so many gigs on is that it is inevitable that, at some point, I’m going to end up at the wrong show. It’s a given. After shooting Mia Dyson, I headed to Last Chance, where I thought I would catch the last half of one hell of a lineup: Spacejunk, War Hawk (Syd), High Finance and Shepparton Airplane. Turns out I was ahead of myself by a day. I decided to stick around anyway and catch a few songs of Vitruvian’s set.

It was late and I was thinking about the gig at The Old Bar with Flour, White Walls and Ohms. The Old Bar is pretty close to the city, not to mention home, so why not? Talk about fluke. Turned out that Flour didn’t go on ’til midnight. Exceptional! I hadn’t seen White Walls in ages and have never seen Ohms, so I was a bit bummed to miss their sets. Still, one of the upsides of living in Melbourne is that there’s always more gigs.

In short, the Mac got a heavy workout, my phone morphed from Apple to Android – the result of a fatal screen break due to its umpteenth dropping – I shot three shows, ran into my veri.live buddy John outside the Oldie and dodged loads of spew puddles in Fitzroy, where there were, it would appear, underage tourists aplenty. Then, finally, home to rip shots, smoke darts and listen to ECSR. I had an early start for work in the morning, BUT I had Sunday off. First time in a year. Sleep in? Damn straight.
