FAQ
-
Do you develop your own film?
Yes, I develop my own black and white large format sheet film and medium format and SLR rolls.
-
Do you produce your darkroom prints?
Yes, I produce my own gelatin silver prints by hand in the darkroom.
-
Do you use a flash?
No. I work flash free and utilise available light in my fine art practice and live music, documentary and commercial photography.
-
What is your favourite analogue camera?
I firmly believe in utilising the most suitable equipment for each task at hand, as the choice of camera significantly influences both the way I approach a shoot as well as the project's outcome. However, if I was faced with having to choose one analogue camera, it would be my 4×5” large format Graflex Speed Graphic.

What cameras do you use for your live music photography?
Due to the extreme low-light conditions, dynamic environment asssociated with live music performances, as well as various constraints, such as the “first three songs, no flash” policy and the inability to “reshoot” the event, I use Canon full-frame DSLRs with L-series lenses for my live music photography. I also have a Canon 40mm/2.8, which is a cheap but solid lens and great for shooting from the mosh. This equipment is not only fast and reliable but also simplifies the processing of the shots, enabling me to effectively meet client briefs and deadlines.

Do you ever shoot gigs with film?
I will sometimes shoot a few rolls of 35mm film at a gig after I have got the shots I need using the DSLR rigs.
