Solo Paste-Up Exhibition
Abbotsford, Brunswick, Collingwood, Fitzroy
October, 2021
All Dressed Up and Nowhere To Go is a site-specific public photography project developed in response to the shutdown of the city’s live-music sector during the Covid-19 Pandemic. The exhibition documents venues and music communities affected by prolonged closure, bringing their absence into public view through large-scale photographic paste-ups installed across Melbourne’s inner-north. Presented across recognised live-music sites, the project translated analogue photographic documentation into a temporary street-based intervention. Its double-A0 works used public space to foreground the cultural and social importance of independent venues at a time when live performance, connection and community were suspended. Supported by Plakkit, “All Dressed Up and Nowhere To Go” acknowledges the precarious conditions faced by Melbourne’s live-music community while affirming the enduring presence of the people, places and networks that sustain it.
