ROAR: That's a wrap

ROAR: That's a wrap

Massive thanks to everyone for coming to the little ZD store this week to check out the ROAR: A Decade Of Drums mini installation celebrating drummers through photography spanning ... you guessed it ... a decade.  Photos ranged from 2007–2017 (including shots of Rizzo from Blood Duster’s last ever gig, and, of Todd from King Parrot’s 170 Russell gig last Friday. Super fresh!

Heavy & Hammered III

Heavy & Hammered III

This year PBS FM presented their third annual Heavy & Hammered event in celebration of all things brutal. The event aims to highlight and promote local heavy bands while raising much needed coin for the community radio station. I caught up with Kene Lightfoot, presenter of Burning Bitumen, after the show to find out more.

Extended due to popular demand

Due to popular demand the Zo Damage 365 Day Project exhibition at Arts Centre Melbourne as part of The Kiln initiative has been extended with the installation on show for an additional three days. The Zo Damage 365 Day Project installation will now show 13–15 August 2017.

About the book

The Damage Report combines Zo’s immersive photography from her 365 Day Project with a selection of quotes and abstracts from artists featured. The book, which offers a unique perspective and insight into this vital cultural hub, is presented as a stunning document of historical significance from the perspective of the live music scene itself.

The immensity of the Zo Damage 365 Day Project is inspiring in the sheer breadth of its volume and vision, as well as in its representation of music culture and community.

The Damage Report, and photographs from the Zo Damage 365 Day Project collection are available to purchase from Arts Centre Melbourne for the duration of Zo’s exhibition.

Tatts and Double Ups

Tatts and Double Ups

22 February 2017 - Day 364/365

Tatts, double-ups, over the top numbers, split interviews, rad playlists, quick visits and wild rides. I catch up with with Chris Pearson on Pojama People at PBS for a chat about 365 before taking off to shoot Nuclear Assault at Max Watt's. Chris played a load of bands that have featured in 365 and are performing at The Damage Report Vol I exhibition including TTTDC, Swidgen, Horsehunter and Watchtower. After shooting Nuclear Assault at Max Watt's I popped back in to continue our chat on Pojama People wrapping up an epic day! Have a listen and find out about breaking records, how my 365 days morphed into 366 … and more.

Wall To Wall

Wall To Wall

Saturday night was insane. So many gigs around Melbourne, which is also pretty average because there is no way anyone can get to all of them! I was at The Tote for Blunt Shovel's "Get In The Ground" album launch with special guests the Douche Crew, Vicious Circle and Christ Crusher. The Tote was packed, the bands were brutal, and at day 360 of my 365 project, I could not have been happier. What a night!
