Queen Victoria Market is delivering its usual weekend feast of colours, aromas and sounds. Traders compete in decibels from every direction “Bananas bananas … Dollar bananas” “Fresh cherries fresh cherries … Try before you buy try before you buy”.

Crammed in the sheds, visitors shuffle stall to stall in complete disarray. There is little direction. It’s 2pm and market is soon closing for the day. At 3pm the bin and box diving will begin.

The store speakers deliver a solid array of music by Australian underground and independent bands. Market visitors are treated to everything from The Kill to Pony Face.

The music fills my lungs … I breathe.
