Saturday night was insane. So many gigs around Melbourne, which is also pretty average because there is no way anyone can get to all of them! I was at the Tote for the Blunt Shovel "Get In The Ground" album launch. Wall to wall amazing, it should come as no surprise that this was a sold out show.
Sharing the stage with the Melbourne death metal legends was the Douche Crew – Danny Lilker (SOD/Nuclear Assualt/Brutal Truth) on bass, Beltsy (Mindsnare/Blood Duster) on guitar, Jay (The Kill/Fuck…Im Dead/Mid Youth Crisis/Providence) on vocals and Nick Barker (Cradle Of Filth/Lock Up Testament/Benidiction) on drums – the mighty Vicious Circle and Christ Crusher.
The event was sold out and off the hook. Epic doesn't even cover it! The night also marked DAY 360 of my 365 Day Project where I've committed to photographing a band or more every day for a year.
Vicious Circle played their first show back after being locked away for 12 months at Goatsound Studios working on their new album "Born To Destroy”. The last year has been huge for VC with a slew of back catalog releases on vinyl and recording their highly anticipated forthcoming LP “Born To Destroy”, scheduled for release in 2017 via Goatsound Records.
Blunt Shovel official video for "Destination Dog Food" from their debut album "Get In The Ground" via Goatsound Records and available on CD and for digital download from Blunt Shovel Bandcamp. Dig it!
One of the most iconic bands of the US Thrash Metal movement, Nuclear Assault, playing a one-off show at Max Watt's, Melbourne on Wednesday 22 February.
Featuring founding members John Connelly on vocals and guitar and Dan Lilker (also known for his work with Anthrax, SOD and Brutal Truth) on bass, plus the inhuman drum machine Nick Barker (Cradle Of Filth/Testament/Dimmu Borgir), Nuclear Assault is primed to devastate the Australian landscape.
