Mike Patton, camera crews and a lousy sense of direction

To say I am geographically and directionally challenged is an understatement.

A good example of this is the time the kids and I stopped to make a phone call on the way home from visiting friends.

Hi.
Hi.
Um, is Macedon on the way to Melbourne?
What? Where are you coming from?
Warrugal.
You’re kidding right.

Large venues are no different. Soundwave was held at Flemington Racecourse, and despite the countless times I have photographed events at the venue, it still throws me.

The plan for shooting these shows … Find box office. Pick up accreditations. Go through gates.

Disorientated amidst the dust, noise and revellers there is only one thing to do … head for the closest loud. Finding my bearings will come later.

The closest loud at Soundwave 2013 delivered Tomahawk.

Mike Patton and camera crew were in a face-off.

No prizes for guessing who won.
