Lungfuls
Queen Victoria Market (QVM) delivers its usual weekend feast of colours, aromas and sounds. Traders compete in decibels from every direction “Bananas bananas, dollar bananas”, “Fresh cherries fresh cherries, try before you buy, try before you buy”. Crammed into the sheds, shoppers shuffle stall to stall in complete disarray. In an hour or so, the market will close, and the bin and box diving will begin. The speakers in my pop-up art gallery – nestled in the historic Victoria Street district of QVM – deliver a solid array of music by Australian underground and independent bands. Market visitors are treated to everything from The Kill to Pony Face. The music fills my lungs … I breathe.
